A man has been shot dead while two women sustained gunshot wounds after four armed robbers attacked a mobile money vendor at Fiapre Zongo in the Bono Region on Wednesday night.
The robbery occurred at about 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, opposite a mosque after the suspects reportedly arrived in a vehicle from Dumasua. During the attack, the robbers opened fire, leaving one resident dead and two others injured before attempting to flee.

Mobile Money Robbery Turns Deadly At Fiapre Zongo
According to information gathered, the robbers targeted a female mobile money vendor identified as Khadija, who was shot in the thigh during the attack. Her sister, Amina, also suffered a gunshot wound to the hand while trying to run to safety.
The incident took a tragic turn when the attackers allegedly mistook a remote control being carried by a resident, Mr Ibrahim, for a firearm. He was shot and died at the scene.

As the four suspects attempted to flee, one of the armed robbers was severely injured when iron rods protruding from a nearby building pierced his body. He was subsequently arrested by police.
