Here Are the Ghanaian Free-to-Air TV Stations That Will Broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Looking for Ghanaian TV stations that will broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup? The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), with government support, has secured the exclusive terrestrial broadcast rights for the tournament, meaning millions of Ghanaians will be able to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup on free-to-air television.

The announcement was shared by Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu alongside a statement issued by GBC on 10 June, confirming arrangements to ensure nationwide access to football’s biggest tournament and the Black Stars’ campaign.

“The 2026 FIFA World Cup is coming to a station near you,” the minister wrote while sharing the statement.

According to GBC, the following television stations have officially joined the Ghana TV Consortium and have been licensed through FIFA, New World TV and GBC to broadcast the tournament:

The consortium will operate under a shared technical, marketing and broadcasting framework designed to maximise nationwide reach and ensure that viewers across Ghana can follow every stage of the tournament on free-to-air television.

What the New Broadcast Arrangement Means for Ghanaians

The initiative fulfils the government’s commitment to making the FIFA World Cup accessible to people across the country, giving football fans the opportunity to follow the Black Stars and the world’s biggest football tournament without relying on paid terrestrial television services.

The arrangement is also expected to provide advertisers with an exceptional platform to reach millions of viewers during one of the most-watched sporting events in the world.

What Radio Stations Need to Know

While the television partners have already been announced, radio stations wishing to broadcast World Cup matches must first obtain a sub-licence from GBC.

The corporation has warned that unauthorised radio broadcasts are strictly prohibited and has urged interested stations to contact its licensing team to secure the necessary rights before the tournament.

Big Opportunity for Advertisers and Sponsors

According to GBC, the Ghana TV Consortium will offer sponsorship, advertising and digital engagement opportunities across television, radio and social media, giving brands access to one of the largest audiences expected during the tournament.

GBC Warns Against Illegal Broadcasts and Streaming

GBC, FIFA and New World TV have also issued a strong warning against any unauthorised broadcast, rebroadcast, streaming, public viewing exhibition or commercial distribution of World Cup content within Ghana.

The broadcaster says digital and social media platforms will be actively monitored throughout the tournament, with legal action and regulatory sanctions awaiting any individual or organisation found to have infringed the exclusive rights.

GBC also expressed gratitude to the Government of Ghana and all stakeholders for supporting efforts to bring the 2026 FIFA World Cup to homes across the country.
