A source familiar with the matter told the outlet that the arrests were made shortly after the incident.

“I don’t really remember the time, but it was around nine thereabouts. Some of the bodyguards from his brother’s house, from Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena’s house, have been arrested. The police just took them away. At the moment, we haven’t heard anything further and are waiting for the police to come up with something.”

The source maintained that Adwoa Safo was shot while in a vehicle parked in front of her brother’s residence.

Although she sustained injuries, the source said her condition was not life-threatening and that she was receiving medical treatment.

“She is very okay. She is at the hospital. The injury is not too serious, but an injury is an injury. She was in the car when she was shot.”

The source further claimed that the weapon used appeared to be a pump-action gun. The pellets reportedly spread on impact, causing injuries to parts of her upper body.

According to the account, some pellets struck areas below her neck and around her chest, while bleeding from the injuries, left blood on her face before she was rushed to the hospital.

Arrests Reportedly Linked To Incident

The six bodyguards are said to be attached to Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, who has recently been at the centre of discussions surrounding leadership of the Kristo Asafo movement following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

At the time of publication, authorities had not officially disclosed the identities of those arrested or the specific offences under investigation.

The Ghana Police Service has, however, issued a formal statement on the shooting, indicating that the Madina Command is investigating the incident

Succession Dispute In Kristo Asafo Movement

The incident is reported to have occurred against the backdrop of an ongoing succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo movement.

Following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo, disagreements have reportedly emerged among some family members and stakeholders over efforts to elevate Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena to a leadership role within the organisation.

While it remains unclear whether the shooting was directly connected to the dispute, the development has intensified public interest in the matter.

What Happens Next?

Investigators are expected to establish exactly what transpired, who fired the weapon, and the circumstances that led to the shooting.

For now, Adwoa Safo is said to be in stable condition and receiving treatment, while the reported arrests are likely to form part of ongoing police inquiries.
