Dennis Miracles Aboagye has broken his silence after his release from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), insisting that investigators never questioned him over the alleged GH¢55 million financial irregularities linked to the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator, who spent four days in EOCO custody before meeting his GH¢50 million bail conditions on Tuesday, July 14, said the alleged GH¢55 million matter did not come up during his interactions with investigators.

Miracles Aboagye denies GH¢55m allegation during EOCO probe
In a Facebook statement following his release, Mr Aboagye rejected reports suggesting that EOCO questioned him about the alleged misappropriation of GH¢55 million at the IMCCoD Secretariat.
“For the records: There was no discussion of any GH¢55 million with me by EOCO. None!!!” he wrote.
Mr Aboagye described his detention as an attempt to intimidate him but said it had instead strengthened his determination to continue his political work.
“If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly,” he stated.

He also thanked his legal team, the NPP leadership and supporters who showed solidarity during his detention, saying their support reinforced his commitment to the party.
EOCO maintains GH¢55m investigation is ongoing
EOCO has maintained that Mr Aboagye’s arrest was part of ongoing investigations into alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities at the IMCCoD Secretariat.
The anti-graft agency said the investigation followed a petition from the current Executive Secretary of IMCCoD and a forensic audit covering the period between August 1, 2022, and February 2, 2025.
According to EOCO, the suspected offences under investigation include conspiracy to steal, stealing, using public office for profit, causing financial loss to the state, defrauding by false pretences and money laundering.
The investigation also involves former IMCCoD accountant Gerald Appiah, who EOCO said was arrested alongside Mr Aboagye.
EOCO is yet to publicly respond to Mr Aboagye’s claim that the GH¢55 million issue was not raised during his questioning.
Aboagye says detention will not stop political ambitions
Mr Aboagye said his experience in EOCO custody would not affect his decision to contest for the position of NPP National Communications Director.
His release comes at a politically significant time as the NPP prepares for internal restructuring and begins positioning itself ahead of the 2028 general election.
The former IMCCoD Executive Secretary said the incident had increased his determination to lead the party’s communications machinery.
“Fuel has only been added to fire,” he wrote.
He added that no detention or criticism would stop him from pursuing his political ambitions.
“I will lead New Patriotic Party’s Communications Directorate to command the narrative, and no cell, no false story, no intimidation will change that,” he stated.
