Excerpts of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s leaked will reveal why the late Ghanaian industrialist left 50% of his company shares, cash and other assets to his household workers. According to veteran journalist Kwame Nkrumah Tikese of Okay FM, excerpts of the will indicate that Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka directed that any cash found on him, in his safe or anywhere in his residence at the time of his death should be shared equally among several household workers.
The beneficiaries, the journalist said, were individuals who had served as domestic workers in the late industrialist’s household over the years.
The will reportedly states that the gifts were made “in appreciation of the domestic services rendered to me over my lifetime.”
In addition to the cash, the household workers were also allocated funds held in most of his bank accounts. The only reported exception was his Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) account, which was left to his biological children.
The leaked excerpts further indicate that the workers received 50% of the 60% shareholding Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka owned in several companies. The shares are to be divided equally among the named beneficiaries and are to belong to them for life.

Why the will has drawn attention
The reported contents of the will have generated widespread discussion because of the significant assets allocated to the household workers and the explanation given by the late industrialist for the decision.
The inheritance has been at the centre of a highly publicised family dispute since Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s death. The disagreement escalated in June after his daughter, Sara Adwoa Safo, was shot multiple times during an incident linked to the dispute, leaving her with life-threatening injuries.
The will was recently read at the High Court in Accra, where beneficiaries were informed of the assets allocated to them and succession arrangements for the late industrialist’s estate.
