The long-running war of words between Prophet Nigel Gaisie and Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, has now found its way to the courtroom.
The founder of Prophetic Hill Chapel has filed a defamation lawsuit against Kumchacha at the High Court in Amasaman, demanding GH¢10 million in damages over comments he says have seriously damaged his reputation and ministry.
According to court documents Nigel Gaisie shared on Facebook, he accuses Kumchacha of making a series of defamatory remarks about him during public discussions and across social media platforms.
At the heart of the dispute are claims allegedly made by Kumchacha questioning the credibility and authenticity of Nigel Gaisie’s prophetic ministry.
Claims at the centre of the lawsuit
Among the allegations cited in the suit are claims that Nigel Gaisie relies on carefully arranged setups and planted individuals within church congregations to gather personal information, which is later presented as divine revelation during prophetic sessions.
The preacher argues that these statements paint him as a false prophet and cast doubt on the legitimacy of his spiritual work.
Nigel Gaisie maintains that the remarks were not only false but have also subjected him to public ridicule and criticism.
‘My reputation has suffered’
According to the lawsuit, the comments have had far-reaching consequences beyond social media discussions.
The founder of Prophetic Hill Chapel says the statements have harmed his reputation among members of the Christian community and the wider public. He further claims that the controversy has strained some personal relationships and affected the confidence that certain church members have in his ministry.
For a public figure whose work revolves around faith and trust, such allegations can carry significant consequences.
Attempts to settle the matter reportedly failed
Court documents indicate that efforts were made over the years to resolve the dispute privately.
However, Nigel Gaisie argues that those attempts did not produce any meaningful outcome, leaving him with little choice but to seek legal redress.
The lawsuit therefore marks a significant escalation in a feud that has played out publicly for years, often generating heated discussions among Ghanaians on radio, television and social media.
What Nigel Gaisie wants from the court
As part of the reliefs being sought, Nigel Gaisie wants the court to declare that the statements made by Kumchacha in videos circulated online were defamatory.
He is also asking the court to compel Kumchacha to publicly retract the remarks and issue an apology.
In addition, the preacher is seeking GH¢10 million in damages for the alleged harm caused to his reputation.
With both men being among Ghana’s most recognisable religious personalities, the case is expected to attract considerable public attention as it unfolds.
