Media personality Cynthia Tima Yeboah, popularly known as Tima Kumkum, has confirmed that she has been separated from her second husband, Dominic Duodu, since April 1, 2025.

Speaking on Joy Prime’s Changes on August 12, 2026, Tima said the couple’s divorce is currently before the court, making it clear that she is separated but not yet legally divorced. She described herself as “partially single” because the marriage has not been formally dissolved.

From divorce rumours to confirmation

Tima’s disclosure brings an end to months of speculation about her marriage, which had increasingly attracted public attention after she was seen without her wedding ring.

In June 2026, she addressed questions about the missing ring, explaining that she had stopped wearing it because of an allergic reaction. At the time, she declined to publicly confirm that her marriage had ended, saying she would address the matter at the appropriate time.

That confirmation has now come more than a year after the couple actually separated.

Tima said she and Duodu stopped living together on April 1, 2025, although she deliberately kept the matter private because she did not want to discuss the circumstances surrounding the breakdown of the marriage.

“I’m separated. Not yet divorced but will be divorced soon,” she said during the Joy Prime interview.

The distinction is important: Tima has confirmed the separation and ongoing divorce proceedings, but she has not said that the divorce has been finalised.

Tima opens up about the impact on her children

Beyond confirming the separation, Tima spoke about how difficult it was to explain the change to her children.

She said she had spent about seven years raising them without a father figure in the home before entering her second marriage. Her children subsequently developed a close relationship with Duodu and called him “Daddy”.

Tima said the children were initially happy about the relationship and that Duodu also had two children of his own.

“We had a very good family, but you cannot control nature. It just did not work out,” she said.

When Duodu left the family home, Tima said her daughter asked where he was.

She initially told her that he had travelled, but after several months she realised she could no longer hide the truth from the children.

“After six months, I had to face reality and tell them, ‘Daddy is no more with us,’” she said.

The emotional impact of the separation became one of the most personal aspects of Tima’s disclosure, particularly because her children had formed a strong bond with their stepfather.

Tima nevertheless praised Duodu for continuing to take responsibility for their child after the separation. She described him as a responsible father who pays the child’s school fees and said their custody arrangement was not a problem.

Why Tima kept the separation private

Tima said she did not want to publicly discuss the reason her second marriage broke down, even though people in her community were already aware that she and Duodu no longer lived together.

She said she had initially intended to remain silent but eventually decided that the public deserved clarity because her wedding had also been publicly known.

“We need to call a spade a spade. You can’t hide it forever. When I was getting married everyone saw it, so if it has ended, they need to know,” she said.

Tima has not attributed the separation to infidelity or publicly disclosed any specific cause of the marital breakdown.

That means speculation about why the marriage ended should not be presented as fact.

Her comments also clarify why earlier reports describing the situation as a divorce were premature. At the time of her latest interview, she said the legal process was still before the court.
