A teacher at Bole Senior High School (SHS) who was interdicted by the Ghana Education Service (GES) after a viral video showed him engaging in inappropriate conduct with a student has offered a public apology and appealed for a second chance. In a video circulating on social media, the man admitted his actions, pleaded for forgiveness from Ghanaians and asked the authorities to transfer him to a remote school instead of dismissing him from the teaching profession.

Teacher apologises and asks for transfer
In the video, the teacher described the incident as “unfortunate” and admitted that his conduct was wrong.
According to him, the student involved had already completed her final year at the school when the incident occurred.

He explained that he had gone to the school’s science laboratory to collect an item before the events unfolded.
“What happened was unfortunate. The students had completed the school and so, I went to the science lab to pick up something and the incident happened.”
He continued:
“I want to apologise to Ghanaians and I have heard they have sacked me from the teaching job. They should forgive me for what happened. I admit that my actions were bad and so they should forgive me.”
Rather than losing his job permanently, the teacher appealed to the government and the Ghana Education Service to transfer him to another school, preferably in a rural area, saying he had learnt from the incident.
“I am pleading with the government to at least transfer me to a village as punishment. I have learnt my lessons from what happened.”
GES launched investigations after viral video
The apology comes weeks after the Ghana Education Service announced disciplinary action against the teacher following the circulation of the alleged misconduct video.
In a statement issued on Monday, 16 June 2026, and signed by Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi, GES said it had become aware of the viral footage and had begun investigations into the matter.
The Service subsequently interdicted the teacher in line with its disciplinary procedures pending the outcome of the investigations.
GES later announced that the teacher’s salary had been suspended after he reportedly absconded from duty. The Service also filed a formal complaint with the Ghana Police Service to facilitate his arrest and assist with ongoing investigations.
What happens next?
Although the teacher has now publicly admitted wrongdoing and appealed for leniency, it remains unclear whether GES will reconsider its disciplinary action.
The Ghana Education Service has not publicly responded to the apology video, and there has been no official update on the police investigations or the teacher’s current whereabouts.
The case has generated widespread public debate about teacher professionalism, student protection and the disciplinary measures applied in misconduct cases involving educators.
