In his social media post, the 73 year old reflected on Ghana’s World Cup campaign and thanked the GFA, players, staff and supporters for the opportunity to serve.
“Football, like life, teaches us one timeless lesson: you either win or you learn.
I leave this journey with pride in what we achieved, but also with the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always wanted more.
The future of the Black Stars will not be built only on the pitch. Black Stars success must start off the field, by creating the best possible environment to prepare, protect and develop Ghana’s extraordinary football talent.
To my President and Board, thank you so much for the opportunity to serve the Ghana National Football Team. It was an honour and privilege to serve the country and the Black Stars.
Thank you, Ghana. The journey starts now.”
While the statement expressed gratitude and reflected on his time with the national team, Queiroz did not explicitly say that he had resigned or that his contract had been terminated.
That has fuelled uncertainty over whether the phrase “I leave this journey with pride” referred to Ghana’s World Cup campaign or his entire spell as Black Stars coach.
Questions grow as no official confirmation emerges
The uncertainty has been amplified by public reactions, including from Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson, who questioned whether reports of the coach’s resignation had been properly verified.
Writing on X on Monday, she said:
“Ok. So did anyone confirm from GFA or the coach himself about the resignation or everyone just made assumptions from his post and went along with it?”
Sports journalist Gary Al-Smith also indicated that officials at the GFA were surprised by the speculation.
According to him, the football governing body has not received any official communication from Queiroz indicating that he intends to leave his position.
He wrote:
“NEW: Carlos Queiroz has NOT officially written and/or communicated anything official to the Ghana FA about an intention to leave.
Post on his official Facebook page which says ‘I leave this journey with pride…’ came as a surprise to authorities, especially because he is on a four month contract that is yet to expire.
Statement is causing uncertainty because it is not clear if he means ‘I leave the World Cup journey with pride’ or ‘I leave the Black Stars journey with pride.’
Clarification to be sought from the 73 year old.”

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the Ghana Football Association has denied receiving an official resignation letter from Carlos Queiroz.
