Speaking on Accra-based Joy FM, the minister stressed that the Portuguese coach “was not appointed on social media”, adding that he would not resign through social media either.

The comments come after a social media post by Queiroz on Sunday, July 5, sparked intense debate over his future with the national team. The post appeared shortly after Ghana’s disappointing exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup and led many supporters and media outlets to conclude that the 73-year-old had stepped down.
The uncertainty follows weeks of scrutiny over the Black Stars’ campaign.

Speaking on Joy FM, Kofi Adams rejected suggestions that Queiroz had already left his position.
“He was not appointed on social media, so he will not resign via social media.”
The minister’s remarks suggest the government and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have not received any formal resignation from the veteran coach.
Queiroz is also understood to remain under an active four-month contract, making any official decision on his future subject to the appropriate processes rather than public speculation.
Carlos Queiroz’s Statement Sparked Confusion
The speculation stems from a lengthy message Queiroz shared after Ghana’s World Cup exit.
Reflecting on the tournament, he thanked the GFA, players, technical staff and Ghanaian supporters while expressing pride in the team’s efforts.

He added:
“I leave this journey with pride in what we achieved, but also with the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always wanted more.”
Queiroz also urged Ghana to improve football structures beyond the national team, arguing that long-term success depends on creating the right environment to develop the country’s football talent.
He concluded by thanking the GFA leadership for the opportunity to coach the Black Stars and ended with the words:
“Thank you, Ghana. The journey starts now.”
However, nowhere in the statement did Queiroz explicitly state that he had resigned or that his contract had ended.
