Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare is set to receive a brand-new vehicle valued at $38,000 after being recognised as the best local player in Ghana’s national team.
Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku announced the reward on Thursday, August 20, 2026, during the association’s 32nd Ordinary Congress at Prampram.

Why Benjamin Asare is being rewarded
According to Kurt Okraku, the vehicle, supplied by TAC Motors, is intended to recognise Asare’s performances and encourage players in Ghana’s domestic league to aim for greater achievements.
“Benjamin Asare, I’m sure he’s listening, a brand-new vehicle, valued at $38,000. I have seen the vehicle, I was in the showroom, I tested it, and you love it,” Okraku told Congress.
The GFA president said the reward reflects the association’s commitment to recognising players who excel at the domestic level.
Asare’s recognition is particularly significant because he represents the pathway the GFA wants more domestic players to follow: performing consistently in the Ghana Premier League and earning opportunities with the senior national team.

GFA wants domestic players to aim higher
Okraku said Asare’s reward should serve as an incentive for other players competing in Ghana’s domestic league.
“This will encourage everybody, all players in our domestic league, to aspire to greater heights. When you do well, your efforts will be recognised by this family that is gathered here,” he said.
The announcement therefore goes beyond the value of the vehicle. The GFA is presenting Asare’s reward as an example of how strong performances at club level can lead to recognition at the national level.
For players in the Ghana Premier League, that message is significant. The domestic league remains an important route for identifying talent for Ghana’s national teams, making individual recognition of local-based players particularly relevant.

Okraku: Ghana’s national teams remain a work in progress
The announcement came alongside a broader assessment of Ghana’s national teams, with Okraku acknowledging that there is still work to be done.
“Our national teams remain a work in progress. While we celebrate encouraging achievements, we also recognise the challenges that lie ahead of us. Our focus remains firmly on building competitiveness,” he said.
His comments suggest that while the GFA is celebrating individual achievements such as Asare’s, it also sees the development of the national teams as an ongoing process.
For Asare, however, the $38,000 vehicle marks a significant personal reward and a public endorsement of his contribution to the Black Stars.
